Bush Timber Tables - Processing
Unique Hand Crafted Tables from North Queensland, Australia.
All timbers used in our tables are cut from trees earmarked for removal or harvesting, usually by private landholders. The logs would usually be dumped or burnt, as they are unsuitable for normal timber milling. The logs are selected for their quality and aesthetic value.
Once the logs are removed from the owners property, we transport them to our work yard where we store them prior to cutting into slabs.
The cutting of these logs is an art form of its own. First we decide the best way to cut the log to reveal the beauty hidden inside. Sometimes we cut along the grain and sometimes the log is cut across the grain or diagonally across the grain. It all depends on nature.

The saws used to cut the timber tables are as awesome as the treasures they reveal. The men operating these saws have developed special techniques and have an experienced eye for extracting the best features from a log.
Once the logs are cut, the planks are stripped and stacked to dry in our ventilated storage shed. It is essential to use correctly cured timber in the construction of these tables.
It takes years to dry and properly cure these slabs. They are stored in a cool, dry, ventilated shed. The timber is stacked in straight, flat beds to prevent any bending or warping in the planks. This seasoning process provides us with the necessary timber to construct our quality tables.
While fresh timbers are drying, we are using previously cured timber to construct our Bush Timber Tables. The construction process is undertaken by experienced craftsmen using the best quality products to ensure solid and durable furniture.
